Ducks Focusing On Draft With Two Top Ten Picks

Anaheim hasn't had much to do throughout the offseason so far but with the draft rapidly approaching things are about to change. In late July the Ducks will be adding to an already impressive prospect pool by adding two more lottery selections at the 6th and 10th overall spot. Sources close to Anaheim have been able to find out that Ducks GM Ryan Clarey has both picks already down on who they want. "I know one of our guys will be available at 6, and we have a few options with number 10. Either way, we are in an excellent spot to get who we want and need."

Anaheim was shopping one of the picks + another 1st from next year in hopes of finding a center but it never ended up coming to fruition. "We kicked some tires on some guys, and we came close on one of them but it didn't work out, so we decided the best course of action would be to utilize the draft picks and continue to build up a strong pool of players. We have a couple guys in free agency we know we could potentially land and be satisfied with over the next two years and Chris (Kreider) has been taking more face offs in the NHL lately so he may get C availability." said Clarey.

"We are gonna continue scouting and follow the same method of drafting we've been utilizing over the last 4 seasons. Its allowed us to grab players like Josh Norris, Alex Romanov, and Mavrik Bourque later in the draft." said the Ducks GM. When asked who Anaheim was leaning towards choosing with their picks Clarey was obviously silent. "We don't wanna give that one away just yet, be patient. It'll  be worth it." said Ryan Clarey.

The Ducks will continue to be on the lookout for a potential offer for a center while they continue to research for the draft.
