Thoughts on UFA s

I think Colorado misplayed Raanta, wont be able to deal him before the season starts and be saddled with a 20 million dollar buyout.... if you really want him you can wait Raanta out for free

____

Winners

The Flyers did great adding Boyle, Cullen up front on cheap one year deals for bottom six depth and Schenn provided quality minutes last year... really good signings

The Rangers adding Staal while dumping Okoposo was a very solid play

Anisimov was good value for Detroit

I really like that Vorcaek deal in Chicago but they need to clear around 3.6 off the roster and potentially more when Buchnevich or/and Compher make the team

I like what Montreal did with Radulov and Anderson... now if they could get Bergeron to, that’s a wicked franchise for the season

_____

Losers

Ottawa did not accomplish much... signings like Eriksson and MacDonald don’t have much mid season trade value... not really maximizing use of the cap space

The biggest loser of the day were the Rdmontin Oilers... here’s a team that wants to take the next step... has some good talent and tons of cap space... striking out hurts... instead of looking to take the next step the club has to seriously consider tanking another year

_____

Montreal still needs to make a splash

Minnesota might send a non low ball offer

Yotes could fill out the bottom six this round

Projections on marquee talent left

Bergeron 6.5x4 (Montreal)

Dadonov 4.0x4 (Vancouver)

Smith 3.5x4 (Buffalo)

Muzzin 4.5x4 (Minnesota)

Brassard 2.5x4 (Minnesota)

Hanzal 1.8x4 (Arizona)
