Devils Win One for the Gip...Lucifer?

On a night that seemed to predict a Devils win, the satanic team from New Jersey managed to win game #666 against the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 5-3.

The mood was set in the swamp when Ozzy came out and "sang" the Anthem to a roaring crowd of red dressed spectators.  After a poor first period which saw the team down by single goal, the team went to the lockerroom and...when they came out, seemed possessed.  When questioned after the game none of the players would comment what exactly happened, but based on the frenetic pace to the 2nd period, one has to assume something was used to inspire the players.  The team managed to score three straight goals, including a shorthanded goal for Kobasew (15) which was his 2nd goal of the night.  On the breakaway to the others team net it almost seemed like he was leaving smoke coming from the ice...and not because of his speed.

Savard capped off the period which his 17th goal of the season on a nice pass from Stempniak (that in itself an indication something was amiss tonight) and the team went into the intermission, this time with a comfortable 4-2 lead.

That was about all the help from the beyond the team needed in this game, as the 2 goal lead turned out to be insurmountable even though Tampa made a push late to try and tie it. However, Backes scored with two minutes left in the game and the final was set.  The team knows the randomness of the schedule, however they feel...hopefully...that maybe in a season where the Devils get game #666 at home, something special could happen.Fans Enjoying the Night
