Columbus, OHIO -- Columbus GM Eric has announced that the Blue Jackets will be showcasing their new third jerseys when the team hosts the Ottawa Senators at Nationwide Arena on January 3, 2011. "With a fresh year starting, what better time to unveil our new look", said Eric. Although the new jerseys were originally intended to be used for special occasions only, the team has reportedly stopped production of all other uniforms and will be sporting their new look permanently starting with the Senators game. NEFHL pundits have expressed concerns about allowing the Jackets to wear a single uniform regardless of being the Home or Away team, but the current NEFHL rules do not prevent it.

Also announced today were the team captains for the 2011-2012 season. The "C" will belong to Magnus Paajarvi, and the "A" will go to Lars Eller. "Might as well complete the Jackets transformation by letting the young guns take the torch", explained Eric. "Jokinen is washed up so it's time for a change. We're also considering giving (T.J.) Oshie and (Luca) Sbisa some form of leadership roles", he added.
