COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Brent Sutter was given his pink slip today, and Guy Boucher has switched alliances.

Boucher, 40, was let go by the Boston Bruins earlier in the day and Jackets GM Eric did not hesitate to hire him as the new Jackets head coach. In 23 career NEFHL games, Boucher boasts an impressive 9-13-1 record. "Guy is a proven winner in the league and we're thrilled to have him on board. The Jackets desperately needed a new identity and we fully expect the Bruins' 1-3-1 formation to be carried over to Nationwide Arena", said GM Eric.

Boucher was visibly excited to sign with the Jackets. Within minutes of finalizing his new contract, he drove himself from Boston to Calgary without stopping once, just so he could be with the team for tonight's game against the Flames. Further, in a show of gamesmanship, Boucher arrived at the Saddledome with Flames GM JD's mother by his side.* The teams are set to face off at approximately 10pm EST.

* See pic: holy crap that woman looks exactly like JD's mom!
