Dale Hunter to step down as head coach...

-Detroit, Michigan

After a very slow start to the season under coach Ron Wilson something had to be done. On november 28th Gm Dinelle fired Wilson and hired Dale Hunter. The move wasn't appreciated at first since Wilson had a lot of experience and Hunter never coached in the NHL Hunter shut down the critics and went on and lead the Wings into the playoffs who lost in 5 against the Stanley cup champions in the first round. Pretty good for his first season. '' He called me last night sometime after dinner. He said he wanted to talk to me'' said gm Dinelle.''He said that he would not be back behind the bench next year.He wanted to go back to his junior team and back to his family in London. It sad for us but we have to respect his decision.Everyone liked him. They liked what he was bringing to the table. He was very well respected by the players. We are not in a rush to find a replacement. We need to concentrate on the draft first then have interviews with candidates afterwards and see from there.''
