COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Jackets-GM Eric held a press conference earlier this morning to solicit the aid of the media in order to find out the probabilities of the Jackets making the playoffs. As it stands, Columbus sits in 6th place in the Western Conference and has as many points as both Nashville and Vancouver. However, Nashville holds the slight edge given their number of regulation wins.

"I'm not a smart man", admitted Eric, "so if someone could please figure out how close I am to clinching a playoff spot that would be great". Eric then went on to explain that if and when the Jackets clinch, he will look to rest some of his key players down the stretch. "My goal at this point is to finish in exactly 8th spot, that way I can meet the Flames in the first round. According to my research the Flames are the weakest of the Western playoff teams and I think my boys would walk over them quite easily in a 7-game series", said Eric.

The Jackets host the Red Wings at Nationwide Arena tonight, then both teams fly to Detroit for the return match at the Joe Louis on Sunday night. This home-and-home series could make or break the Wings' chances at a playoff birth.
