The San Jose Sharks have a new first line center and that new center is going to be a star on the team for a very long time. Fans have seen him before but what they see next season will be something brand new.
Acquired from the Boston Bruins in 2010 in the Mike Richards blockbuster trade Nazem Kadri has already played 120 games for the San Jose Sharks. In those 120 games he has 22 goals and 30 assists and is a -1.
The 22 year old London, Ontario native spoke to media at his charitty golf tournament Tuesday morning, while he was conservative with predictions for his next season he was extremley confident in his abilities to produce and help the team win and make the playoffs.
"My goal is to be the offensive leader of the hockey team. I think whichever line I am on will be a major threat every time we touch the ice."
"Our teams goal is to make the playoffs and to do that players like myself need to perform at a very high level, that is something I will work to do every day and I am confident that is exactly what I will do night in and night out"
Kadri is expected to center the teams first line this season, it is probably too early to predict who is wingers are going to be but Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise are safe bets.
Also at the charity golf tournament was Gabriel Landeskog, another young Sharks forward who just finished his rookie season in the league. He praised Kadri's ability and made a very bold prediction regarding the upcoming season.
Landeskog was quoted saying "Nazem Kadri is going to take San Jose over next season, he is a great hockey player and will prove it next season. Not only will he be a star player on our team league wide he is going to be a star player. Everyone in and around the NEFHL will know about "The Dream" over the next 82 game season and hopefully for more in the playoffs"
