Rangers acquire a lot of future

It came out of nowhere. The New York Rangers traded away allstar-defenceman Keith Yandle. "That wasnt in our heads, but sometimes things happen surprisingly", GM Matt Kaminski started the press-conference after the big trade.

RFA Yandle was a key member of the Rangers succesfull season (3rd overall after the regular season), but is now heading to San Jose. "They asked about him and we were replying that Yandle isnt untouchable, but we have no intention to move him unless the return is outstanding."

It took only 2 days to hammer out a 4 player and 3 pick trade. Yandle will join the Sharks immediately along with a 2nd round pick in 2014. The Rangers will receive 3 young forwards and a 1st round pick in 2014.

Kyle Okposo, Alexander Burmistrov and Scott Laughton are already on the way to New York. "Along with the first rounder, they will help us a lot in the future. We also think we can handle the loss of Yandle. We cant replace him at all, but our 7 d-men rotation should be able to compete. We definitely want to be in the playoffs again", Kaminski explained.
