Stewart unsigned, Preds look at options

With Chris Stewart refusing the latest Preds offer, the Nashville based team is said to be weighting their options. Will they still try to sign Stewart? Will they wait and see if he receives an offer sheet? Will they trade Stewart?

Asked about the contract negociations, GM Tremblay had this to say: "We believe we made strong efforts trying to sign Stewart to a reasonable contract. For a guy that had 21 points during the regular season last year, we think our 1 year offer at $4.5M was pretty rich..."

Without Stewart, what would the team look like?

Whitney - Brassard - Simmonds

Latendresse - Legwand - Kulemin

Umberger - Moss - Higgins

Gagne - Spaling - Sestito

Orpik - Faulk

Streit - McDonagh

Stoner - Alzner

Varlamov

Giguere

The Preds would have about $2M to upgrade the line-up. This could be an opportunity for Gagne to redeem himself since the rumour is that he is on the block or on the verge of being bought out (following a Stewart signing).
