Some crazy hours are behind Rangers GM Matt Kaminski: "We were trying to improve our team to reach the playoffs and having a shot to win it all this year."
Its always a tough and small line between being succesful and losing. "We know that chemistry is the most important challenge in hockey. We lost it after the midseason trade for Tomas Fleischmann. After moving him away for less we were going back into the winning column", Kaminski explained.
With a very late deal - just in time for the 7 pm deadline - Kaminski acquired Center Chris Kelly for a 4th round pick in 2015 and depth prospect Jeremy Price.
The Rangers deadline story is directly connected with the Anaheim Ducks. The 2nd deadline deal from Kaminski was also with Ducks GM Travis. Some hours before the Rangers sent 2 2nd round picks and a 3rd plus Scott Hartnell to California. In exchange the Rangers got Patrik Elias and Curtis Glencross.
"We hope that these 2 forwards will give us a new dimension offensively", Kaminski said. The Rangers are known as a strong defensive team, but adding 2 quality forwards can put them over the top.
"We will see how the team performs during the rest of the regular season and hopefully we will earn a playoff spot. We are aware that we can fail too."
The New York Rangers 2014 are a bit of a Wildcard!

Curtis Glencross - Patrik Elias - Troy Brouwer
