Ups and downs

The 2014/15 season has been solid so far for the New York Rangers, but some statistics are strange, GM Kaminski remarked. "We really had a lot of trouble to score at the start of the season." The highly praised and ranked Rangers (Hoover report) only scored 28 goals in the first 15 games of the season. "That was really disappointing", Kaminski said.

There was no obvious reason why the Rangers have been league last after 15 games in goals scored. "We dont know why, to be honest", added Kaminski. Even as surprising as the low goal outcome during these 15 games have been the last 11 games. "We scored 41 goals in last 11 games and again we dont know why our struggling offense suddenly started to produce."

Maybe adding veteran forward Travis Zajac, who isnt known as an offensive dynamo, helped. Zajac was acquired for prospect Nicklas Jensen and a 2nd round pick in 2015 has now played 8 games for the Rangers and he scored 10 points (3 goals, 7 Assists). Same amount of points than in 19 games with Tampa Bay before. "He seems to feel good on our 2nd line with Brouwer and Glencross or Semin and also gives us a solid 2 way game."

Also the Rangers special teams have ups and downs: PP is producing at 21,5% and is ranked 3rd, the PK could improve. 86,3% is tied for 14th in the league.

A bright spot for the Rangers is goalie Carey Price. He not only played most minutes of all NEFHL goaltenders (1246) but also owns excellent stats. 2.07 goals against and a save percentage of 92,6% is helping the Rangers a lot to win games.

Leading scorer after 26 games is Kyle Okposo with 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists).
