Predators acquire Jordan Staal from rebuilding Sabres

With the rough start to the season, the Predators brass felt it was time for a bit of a change. Answering the call of fellow GM Kevin, the talks progressed quickly about the acquisition of Jordan Staal. This may be the kick in the balls that the team requires to perform in better fashion.

The trade saw the Predators move RJ Umberger, Nikolai Kulemin, Connor Murphy and a 1st rounder in 2016 for Jordan Staal and Benoit Pouliot from the Sabres.

GM Tremblay had this to say about the trade: "You rarely have the opportunity to acquire a quality player like Jordan Staal. Even though it costs some future pieces in Connor Murphy and a 1st in 2016, we felt it was worth it."

Also acquired in the trade, Benoit Pouliot will replace Kulemin on the 4th line. Cap wise, this trade keeps the team at the same place.
