Zajac back home

When New York Rangers GM Matt Kaminski traded for Travis Zajac it wasnt expected that the versatile Forward will have such a big influence to the already stacked Rangers team. "Trav always asked me to bring him back home", Kaminski smiled after yesterdays 4 point night of Zajac. The 2nd line Center scored 3 goals and added an assist in a 6-3 win at Florida.

Its Zajacs 2nd stint with the Rangers. 2011/12 was the first time Zajac entered the Broadway. "I was part of the big and controversal Ovechkin-Trade", he said. The Rangers obtained Zajac in a package with Brendan Smith, Bryan Little, Keith Yandle, WSH 2012 Rnd 4, WSH 2013 Rnd 1 and WSH 2013 Rnd 2 for AO.

He was succesfull with the Blueshirts but only for 14 games before being traded again to Boston for Patric Hornqvist and a 5th round pick. In these 14 games he scored 12 points (3 goals and 9 Assists). "I always wanted to come back. Now i feel good. I cant explain why, but its like a was born in a blue shirt", he smiled.

GM Kaminski always tried to find a way to fulfill Zajacs wish, but it lasted almost 3 years before he found the way back home. He played for Boston, Vancouver, Tampa Bay and Dallas during that span but never scored at the same pace.

"I was excited when i got messaged that i am back with the Rangers." November 16th was the day when Kaminski finally worked out a deal with Tampa Bay to land Zajac again. A 2nd round pick and 2 young players (Nicklas Jensen, Tom Kuhnhackl) have been going to Tampa.

Since rejoining the Rangers Zajac blossomed. He is not only an integral part of the PK unit, he also has emerged as one of the Rangers premium scorers. Starting the season in Tampa Bay Zajac managed 1 goal and 9 Assists in 19 games along with a -5. In the Rangers Uniform Zajac performed extraordinary well: With yesterdays hatty he stands at 25 points in 22 games (8 goals and 17 Assists). He also owns a +13 and fired 61 shots on goal.

"As of today, we have to admit, that the trade worked well for us, but the season isnt over yet. A final breakdown will be made when the final game is played. And we want to win that final game."
