Rangers rally to eliminate Pens

After the OT loss in game 4 in Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers had some rising pressure on their shoulders. "This OT loss was extremely disappointing as we outshot the Pens 53-29", GM Kaminski said.

So game 5 at home needed to be the series closer, but the Pens started well and had the momentum for more than 40 minutes. When Andrew Ladd scored the 3-1 for the Pens at 41.08 not many expected the Rangers to bounce back.

But they did: Just 4 secondes after Ladds goal, Vinny Lecavalier scored an important tally to make it a one goal game. And 7 minutes later, John Carlson - with his 2nd of the playoffs- was able to tie the game.

Not enough, at 55.21 Travis Zajac scored the unasisted game winner. "It wasnt easy for Trav, as he was demoted to the 3rd line when the playoffs started. Today he showed why he is so important to our team", Kaminski added.

For the first time in the Kaminski era the Rangers have been able to win a playoff series, and now even two. "Really a great feeling for all of us, but especially for me personally too."
The Rangers have to wait for the team to play against in the Eastern Conference finals, as Boston and Ottawa still battle for a winner.
