Rangers clinch late

After 82 games it needed the last period of regular season hockey for the New York Rangers to clinch a playoff spot. In a bizarre situation of 3 teams for 2 spots, the Rangers needed a win at Philly in the very last game of the season.

And they got it: After only winning 3 of the last 10 games, they beat Philly right in time. But even this game vs the last place in the eastern conference wasnt easy. After 2 periods the Rangers had a 1-0 lead. James Neal scored at 14.13 of the 1st period. The low shooting game (19-18) needed to find a winner in the last period.

And when it counts you can bet on the Rangers. They dominated the 3rd period and scored 3 unanswered goals. Torry Mitchell, Troy Brouwer and James Neal with his 2nd of the game secured the playoffs for the Blueshirts. Also Craig Anderson was stellar by earning a shutout in the most important game of the year.

"Its always great to be part of what they call in germany "geilste Zeit". Best part of the hockey year and the Rangers are still playing. "We also like to proove Hoovers report wrong year after year." The Rangers were projected as 2nd worst team in the eastern conference but now are the 7th seed in the conference playoffs.

The Rangers face the Florida Panthers in the first round: "We apreciate how this team looks and their 45-30-7 record but we also know how to beat them."

The Rangers won 3 of 4 regular season games vs Florida and outscored them 13-11. "As the 2nd place team they have a lot more pressure than our team which was just hopping at the playoff train in the last game. So if they advance, its normal. If we advance, its huge!!!"
