Rangers prepare for next season (Part 3)

"Cap management" is one of the most important things for modern hockey FHL teams. "Sure cap is always a concern", admitted Rangers GM Kaminski.  If you have a deeper look into the new 2018/19 Rangers team, you see a defence group eating up a lot of the cap cake:

"Its true we have some higher priced d-men but one of our philosophies is always to have a strong backend to minimize the goals against. Thats why we took a flyer on Duncan Keith who is the most expansive of our d-men. We are convinced that he bounces back this season, but also we are maybe forced to get rid of him before the season starts. Time will tell", Kaminski said.

But with or without Keith the Rangers backyard looks solid infront of new starting goalie Jaroslav Halak. "We arent flashy or anything but we are very solid and very responsible defensively. With Yandle and Gardiner we have 2 good puckmovers and offensive catalysts, while Braun and Greene are very strong defensively", explained Kaminski.

The rest is still in the mix as the Rangers have several depth D-men to land a spot in thee bottom lines. "It was always an organizational strenght to limit the goals against and to line up one of the better blue line groups." With Connor Carrick, Michal Kempny and Paul Ladue the pipeline isnt empty, but its always possible that Kaminski will add another veteran to solidify the Defence.

"We will see if we trade for another player or if we try to land one via free aganzy. Also the waiver wire always has some options". added Kaminski. But as already mentioned the Rangers have to make some scary cap decisions. Especially with the uncertainity of resigning Zucker and Brown, who both want a lot of money.

As of now the Rangers defence looks like:
Yandle - Braun
Gardiner - Keith
Greene - Carrick
Kempny - Ladue

But its pretty certain that Kaminski will initialize some changes before the season starts!
