Meszaros out indefinitely

Wild defencemen Marc Methot, extended his elbow to the back of the head of Flames defencemen Andrej Meszaros halfway through the third in a meaningless game between the two teams.

Meszaros was sent head first into the boards landing awkwardly and injuring his back in the process.  He laid on the ice motionless for several minutes before being taken off the ice on a stretcher.  The extent of the damage at this point is unknown although doctors have stated he should be able to resume playing some day.  However this day is currently far away and nobody knows how long he would be out for.

Meszaros is now sidelined indefinitely.  Darryl Sutter had the following comments after the game. "Why someone would try to hurt one of our best defensemen in a game that had no impact on the season is beyound me.  He obviously wanted to hit him and hurt him."

Methot was given a 5 game suspension by the league immediately after the game.  He was given a game misconduct as well.

Stewart had those words for the Wild after the game. "Going into next season we're obviously not going to forget.  And since we play them atleast 6 times we'll make sure we make them pay every time and Methot better look over his shoulder, cause Belle and I are starting to like sandwiching gutless players."
