The Blue Jackets thought they were done with making trades after grabbing TJ Oshie from the Jets. Boy were they wrong. The Jackets made several other moves, including 2 more seperate moves with the Jets, and acquried Jeff Skinner, Cody Eakin, Chris Wagner and Oscar Lindberg. With these moves you could see that the common theme of them was that the Blue Jackets thought their forward core was missing some depth. Skinner adds another legit scoring threat besides Kucherov. Eakin adds some all-around nice play and is a solid secondary scoring option on the 3rd line. Lastly Lindberg and Wagner both add grit and solid defensive play to their bottom six/penalty killing unit.

With these moves you can see that the Jackets think they are a legit contender for a championship this year. Their top 4 d-men haven't been touched since the start of the year and the only notable change was upgrading from Gryba to Folin. Overall the Jackets have improved greatly since the start of the year. Once Shaw gets back after Yandle tried to murder him the Jackets will be even better. As it stands right now this is what the lineup projects to be(when healthy of course):

Skinner/Shaw - Lindholm - Kucherov

Shaw/Skinner - Teravainen - Oshie

Gourde - Eakin - Armia

Wagner - Lindberg - Girgensons

Niskanen - Petry

Larsson - Murphy

Severson - Folin

Varlamov

There will be some experimenting in Columbus throughtout the rest of the year to see if Skinner works better with Kucherov on a line or down on the 2nd line with Oshie. Come playoff time the Jackets should be a team to watch as they've got some pieces that should help them make some noise.
