The Jackets made a huge trade at the deadline, sending out longtime Jacket Teuvo Teravainen for Adam Erne, Max Jones, Travis Dermott, Braden Schneider, Colorado 3rd 2021, and of course Dylan Strome. The Jackets saw a ton of untapped potential in Strome, they figured it may take him a little bit to settle in as the Jackets new 2C. While he still has some growing to do before becoming a true top 6 guy, he's off to a good start.

Strome put up 3 goals and 1 assist in a 8-5 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Strome seemed to be on a mission to prove his worth to his new team and help them make the playoffs. Max Jones also made his debut with the team, and he had an assist to contribute to the win as well. While losing Teuvo was a loss in the short term, long term the Jackets believe they got what they needed. Players line Strome, Dermott and Jones will continue to develop. Erne may develop a bit as well, but if he's just a solid 3rd liner for the Jackets they'll be happy. The inclusion of Braden Schneider in this deal was what got the Jackets really leaning torwards this deal versus other great offers they had recived for Teuvo. Schneider is a surefire top 4 d-man in the Jackets eyes. They were a fan of his on draft day and they liked how he played at the recent WJC. With other youngsters like Valimaki, and Robins in the system as well, the future is begining to look a bit brighter for the Jackets. The key this offseason will be to draft a forward prospect and trying to add another top 6 scorer to help out Kucherov.
