Looks like the Dallas Stars are ready to part ways with goaltender Mike Smith. With an 82OV and a great contract of 2.2 Mil the stars are confident they can get a great draft pic in return from a team who wants to add depth in that position for a great playoff run. The Stars currently sit in 9th in the western conference and are in tough to make a push for the playoffs. But the Stars feel confident that waiver pickup Jonathan Quick can step in and take on the starter role and hopefully string some wins together to make the playoffs. With the outstanding play of Ville Husso of the Blues in the NHL the Stars feel like he can take on the backup role to Quick and still have a chance to make the playoffs. Ville Husso has had a great run in St. Louis as of late. In 14 games played ( 13 starts) he has only allowed 24 goals against to hold a 1.81Gaa with impressive .945 sv%. At this point the Stars are hopefull that Husso will eventually become a number one goalntender in the NHL as well as for the Stars in the NEFHL. Trading Mike Smith will help the Stars save some cap space as we currently have 3 d-men out with suspensions or injuries. The Dallas Stars are not pulling the plug on the 2021-2022 season just yet and want to let the loyal fans know that they are not planning on becoming sellers at the deadline. We will just have to wait and see what the next month of hockey will bring in regards to the standings. Just to be clear that Stars are looking for the best possible 2022 draft pic for Smith and cant take on any salary.
