Rumors out of Columbus are that the team has been in talks with an east coast team regarding franchise center Joe Thornton. Although the Jackets wouldn't specify their potential trading partner, they mentioned the process has been easy for both clubs as they come closer to a deal. "I wouldn't say we're even at 90% yet, but when the initial offer came in I'd say it not what we were looking for. The deal has matured and its getting closer to something we like," said a team source.

The Jackets will make sure that they give this their due dilligence and let other clubs know to avoid the mistake of NHL GM Mike O'Connell. "Here's your warning, better get those offers in." The team has stressed that in order to even have a shot at the franchise center, they need a solid forward whose as young as Joe in the deal.
