Wings looking to improve with 2009 Draft Picks

Jordan SchroederGeneral manager M. Leblond was esthetic about his results of the 2009 NEFHL Draft. The red wings pick (in exact order) Jordan Schroeder, Tim Erixon, Taylor Doherty, Jaroslav Janus, Ben Chiarot, Simon Jodoin, Garrett Peterson and Andreas Grondahl.

Here's what GM M. Leblond had to say:
We had no idea the Draft had started until we got a phone call for a trade. Although we didn't have a list we had names of guys that impressed us this year at the JR level. Jordan was our main go to guy. We liked his attitude and skills that he brought to the USA U18 Team. At 5 ft 8 inches he can be compared to a great player like St-Louis and will hopefully see as a top 6 forward in the years to come.

Also we were happy that Taylor was still available in the 3rd round as he brings a big presence at the blue line at 6ft 8 inches and 218 lbs. His size can be compared to Chris Pronger in the NEFHL.

And the cherry on the top of the sundae was the pick up of Jaroslav Janus in forth round. Jaroslav stole the show in the U18 tournament and playing in the OHL will hopefully keep his mind from going back to Sweden for professional hockey.
