GM Tousignant Makes His First Move...

The Devils announced a few days ago, they placed high paid offensive D-man Sandis Ozolinsh on waivers with the plans to buy him out.
GM Tousignant is taking over the old management and realized with Bryan Berard and to a lesser extent -Dick Tarnstrom- the Devils did not need purely offensive minded Sandis Ozolinsh making $5,300,000 next season. After weighing most options and finding he had negative value throughout the NEFHL, the Devils decided to put Ozolinsh on waivers with the plans to buy-out his contract.

Luckily for the Devils, Ozolinsh (who was acquired via trade from the Coyotes last year) was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Sabres, who apparently see some kind of talent still left in Ozolinsh. The Devils are just extremely happy to rid themselves of the huge contract; even though Sandis Ozolinsh put up 51 points last year (including 16 goals) while being a +14 the Devils highly doubt he will crack the 30 point mark this season.

In other news:

The Devils have also signed rookies Igor Volkov and Jonas Almtorp to contracts, signing them as undrafted players. The Devils scouting team gave good reports on Volkov and are hoping he crosses the pond, while the less talented Almtorp also has NHL potential but more likely in a defensive minded forward role.

That is all from the Swamp for now..
