Who Will Devils Pick At #2?

After losing the lottery to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Devils now have the difficult task of who to pick at 2nd overall in the 2008 NEFHL entry draft.
After taking Patrick Kane last season at #2 overall when the Thrashers went with Jakub Voracek... the Devils have a much harder decision this year. Kane is a small player, but the Devils still felt he was the BPA over other forwards like JVR and Kyle Turris.

However, this year - with two franchise looking defenseman in Drew Doughty and Zach Bogosian and a possible franchise Russian forward in Nikita Filatov the Devils have a very hard choice.

GM Tousignant has not said one way or another which way he is going..sometimes leaning towards the D, and other times hinting he may pick another small forward at #2. After hearing a recent interview by Filatov with North American media, the Devils are excited to hear how fluent the Russian is in English, which surely enhances his appeal to go 2nd overall.

However, with a fairly severe lack of depth on defense - the Devils are not sure they can pass on one of the two defensemen. GM Tousignant stated that "not taking a defenseman of their caliber could come back to haunt this team. I mean, we are sitting around our scouting tables, and reading about how this Doughty kid plays a game like Ray Bourque...as a born and raised Bruin fan, having a Bourque on this team would be incredible."

Once again...on the other hand, Zach Bogosian is has been raised in NY, and the Devils love his size and physical play - even if his offensive savvyness isn't as advance as Doughty.

Who will the Devils pick? At this point it's 100% between one of these 3 players..
