Best and hottest team in the league

GTake a look up.... all the way at the top. You see it?

Thats the Toronto Maple Leafs sitting in first place in league. Pretty amazing start for the buds who many thought would be near the bottom. Is it early ? Sure. Is it sustainable? Nobody knows but the numbers are there.

The buds are rolling having won 6 straight and 7 of 9. This is done all while the team has faced key injuries to Nazem Kadri. JT Miller and Andreas Athanasiou. Throw in a 5 game suspension to Marcus Johnasson and that’s 4 key players out of the lineup at different times yet the team continues to win. Is Vasilevski the saving grace? Doesnt appear to be as Anton Fordberg is 2 and 0 with sparkling numbers.

So who is the leafs leading scorer? Kadri? Miller? Mantha? Rielly? Johnasson? NOPE

EVAN RODRIGUE? That’s correct he leads the team in scoring with only 7 points in 9 games

Maybe this leaf team is built for success because of the back end which was the focus and leafs boltersted that last week acquiring Josh Manson. The back end has no weakness as Rielly, Chara, Provorov, Sergachev, Girardi and Manson man the d. Top that off with one of the leagues best goalie and the Leafs are having tremendous success to start the year.

If this trend continues don’t be surprised to see leaf brass make some moves to shore up the top 9 as that seems to be the only weakness so far.

The look up has been a fun ride for the team to start the season.
