Milestone December!

Ovechkin has hit 3 milestones this month.  He scored his 600th Goal, recorded his 500th Assist and hit 1100 points. It’s truly remarkable he was able to hit all these milestones and prolly an even greater achievement is doing it all this month. He is the first player to hit the 600 goals and 1100 points. What makes this incredible is he is 150 goals ahead of 2nd place Jerome Iginla on the goals list and around 71 points more than Joe Thornton. Both have played more games than Ovechkin too. The scary thing is he is only 32 and although he is slightly slowing down, he has 19 goals and 36 points in 40 games this year.

He is clearly the best player the nefhl has ever seen but the one blemish is, he doesn’t have a cup. Though you can’t really blame him for that. Hockey unlike most other sports such as basketball is not an star driven league where the better team usually wins, there are so many different variables that effect the game of hockey. The Capitals has some great teams in the last few years but the bounces didn’t go their way and got bounced out of the playoffs early. This year however  the Capitals are struggling this year and won’t even get a chance in the playoffs. It is another lost year for Ovechkin chasing the dream. The Capitals are hopeful to do right by AO next year and give him another shot to win with the Capitals. There however remains the biggest question of them all, Does the AO want to come back?
