Barzal is ready for 2018

Barzal headlines the Capitals list of upcoming prospects and is already a favorite for the Calder next season in the NEFHL. Drafted 9th by the Capitals in 2015, GM Zivcic couldnt wait to make the pick. He knew right away that this kid will be a star and now that is coming true. At first it looked like he needed some time to develop and he did. People questioned why ihis goal scoriing is low in the WHL and that he was too much of a playmaker but he is proving everyone wrong. Not only is he an elite playmaker, he could also score goals at the NHL level. He currently has 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in 38 games.

So what does he do that makes him so special? Well first and foremost is his strong skating. His skating is at an elite level maybe not at fast as McDavid but his skating allows him to hold the puck and turn quickly  creating space and passing lanes, making him a defecemans worst nightmare. Combined with that type of skating he has an elite passing ability that allows him to make pin point passes to teammates. He also has that undescribable “it“ factor, the one that you just turn on the tv and he Is the player that sticks out everytime. He is just an eye catching talent.

The 2015 draft was once called the McDavid/Barzal draft at some point in their early years and right now it’s McDavid and everyone else. But Barzal is progressing well and although It will prolly still be McDavid and everyone else...Barzal could be the second name mentioned from that draft for years to come.

Barzal is definately one of the bigger positives for the Capitals next year.
