The Pittsburgh Penguins took game one of the Eastern Conference finals 3-1 to take a 1-0 series lead. The goal was to come into Newark swinging and they did so, stealing home ice advantange. The Penguins saw the return of their young rookie, Jeff Skinner, a player they missed on both sides of the ice. It turns out he was a difference maker setting up Teddy Purcell for two goals.
"It's nice to be back on the ice. It was painful watching most of last series from the press box. I am just happy to be back and contribuiting" Skinner said.
The Pens may need to lean on Skinner even more so next game with the captain banged up. Crosby went down awkwardly in the second period and landed on the elbow that kept him out of a game last series.
"He's a little banged up. If it were game 7 he would be playing but right now we are taking things day by day. We will see how feels tomorrow" coach Dan Bylsma added.
The New Jersey Devils will have a familiar face added back into their lineup with Alexander Edler healthy and ready to go. He will step into the teams top pairing and should log a heavy share of minutes.
The Penguins and Devils are expected to face off for game two on Wednesday evening in Newark in what should be an all out affair.
