As 2020 comes to an end, its time to look at the top 20 prospects on the Montreal Canadians. This list will include anyone still considered a rookie in this NEFEHL season. Many of these guys are playing this season, so this list will look a lot different in a few months.
As with most years, the the top 20 list is very D heavy and this year it includes 10 of them. The D is led by Noah Dobson who looks like a top pair D who will play in all situations. The rest of the D looks like a lot of 2nd and 3rd pairing guys who play important minutes on the PK.
There are only 2 G on the list, but both of them look like they could be starting NEFHL goalies. Mackenzie Blackwood is already a one year NHL starter and is looking like a top candidate for both the Calder and the Vezina this year. When he plays, the Canadiens can win any game. When he sits, there is not much hope in Montreal so far.
There are 8 F on the list this year, and Filip Tomasino leads the way as someone who looks like he could be a top line C in a couple of years. None of the rest of the group looks like top line guys, but there are a lot of potential NHL regulars in the list.
