It has been one year since the reigns of the Canadiens were handed over the GM Munro, and a lot has happened.  Within the last week, we have traded one of the faces of the franchise, JP Dumont, for up and coming C Patrik Berglund and a 1st.  In the first round of the draft, we had 3 picks and grabbed 3 important pieces to the rebuild.  At 6, Alexei Cherepanov fell in our lap and we took him and ran.  He instantly becomes our best winger prospect which was one of our weakest spots.  At 26 and 27, D Thomas Hickey and C Oscar Moller were taken.  Being short on D, Hickey was someone we had targeted for a while and while Moller doesn't fill one of our needs, he was the best player left on our board.  Both of these players have already excelled in the WHL, so we feel they should reach the NHL in a couple of years. The franchise is looking to compete in the 09-10 season.  By then some of the young talent should be settled in like Josh Harding, Wojtek Wolski, James Sheppard and Stephen Weiss.  A lot of the pieces are already in place for a strong team, but more trades will be looked at over the coming months.  There are still 4-5 guys who should bring in some good young talent.  More to come after Free Agency ends.
