Eichel is the team's star that they've invested in, but at this time, his 25DU and lack of complimentary forwards will probably  not be enough to find the playoffs. Anders Lee is the team's other big scorer. They do have good defensive players and Varlamov is an 80OV goalie so their shutdown game should be solid. Their depth is solid and they have cap room, so there are options for Columbus with which direction they'd like to go. I imagine there might be some focus on rebuilding, but it might also depend how the first couple months of the season go for them.

Hughes is developing nicely. Hakanpaa and Subban were solid signings to round out their defense nicely with Ristolainen and Faulk as their big two. Marchand, who they added last season, is the one big star in the lineup at the moment. There is some very talented youth coming up through the system and Vegas has some good things going for them. Their current goaltending duo of Francouz and Knight isn't the most inspiring, but they have lots of cap room and goalies are sometimes disposable if old and overpaid. Vegas is a team with a good move or two could see themselves fighting for a playoff spot.
